The Ngarara Farm residential development proposal is the Smith family’s inspired response to the question ‘what to do with the family farm now it’s no longer economically viable?’
The idea did not occur overnight, but rather has taken form gradually as the current owners have sought to preserve what they value of their land, while finding a way to share it with others.
The present planning team has come together over several years, and is now working together to shape a framework that will give solid foundation for a new residential area closely tied to its surrounding natural environment and culture.
The hope is that new owners of homes and holiday houses in the development will help ‘ground’ the dream of truly sustainable living on the Kapiti Coast.
